Hollenderbyen
The hotel is located where Hollenderbyen begins. Hollenderbyen got its name because Flekkefjord actively traded with the Netherlands in the 16th and 17th centuries. Among the most important goods were timber and fish products. Many Dutch people also settled in Flekkefjord.
Today's cosy buildings in Hollenderbyen are largely the result of herring fishing in the 19th century. Large catches made many fishermen rich, and they built houses for the money.
Did you know that parts of the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands were built using timber from Flekkefjord, and stone from Flekkefjord can be found under Schiphol Airport?
Dresin cycling on the Flekkefjord railway
Cycling on the Flekkefjord railway is a unique experience and activity for families and groups. Experience as many as 17 tunnels in beautiful scenery and varied landscapes. The railway line is hand-built and is described as a masterpiece in stone.
The bicycle used is called a dresin, which is a bicycle specially designed to be used on railway tracks. Most of the bikes are tandem dresins and can accommodate two riders and one adult or two children as passengers. The trains are versatile and can accommodate wheelchairs and child seats.

Flekkefjord cultural centre SPIRA
Flekkefjord cultural centre Spira is Flekkefjord's pride and joy. Here there is something for everyone to experience. You can go to concerts, theatre, cinema and take a trip to the library.
Spira was completed in September 2016 and is Flekkefjord's main theatre. Visit the website to view cultural programmes and cinema programmes.
Flekkefjord Sparebank Arena
Flekkefjord Sparebank Arena is the largest of its kind in the region with state-of-the-art facilities for football, handball, gymnastics, climbing, squash, volleyball, paddle tennis, dancing, badminton and basketball.
It's definitely worth a visit if you're in Flekkefjord.

Bridge mountains and bridge holes
The hike from Roligheten up to Brufjell offers great views all the way to the sea. The Brufjell hollows were probably dug out of the sea and pebbles before the mountain rose after the last ice age. A very rare natural phenomenon. Brufjellhålene has become the new big selfie spot in Flekkefjord. The iconic rock formations are attracting tourists like never before.
